COMMUNITY SUPPORT

WE PLAN FOR THE DAY ONE OF YOU IS LEFT BEHIND. WAF IS THERE WHEN NO ONE PLANNED.

Every retirement plan we build asks the same hard question: what happens to the surviving spouse? Most of the families we serve get to answer it in advance. Many widows never had the chance.

THE PROBLEM

NEARLY 1 IN 3 WIDOWS OVER 65 LIVES AT OR NEAR POVERTY

U.S. CENSUS BUREAU

1 IN 3

Widows over 65 live at or near the poverty line — after a lifetime of working and contributing.

WISER

80%+

Of women outlive their husbands. Women live 5–7 years longer than men on average.

FIRST YEAR OF LOSS

37%

Average income decline a widow experiences in the first year — the shock that leads to skipped meals, unfilled prescriptions and eviction notices.

THE WIDOW’S ANNUITY FOUNDATION

RESTORING DIGNITY. REBUILDING LIVES.

01

ANNUITY SUPPORT

Not one-time aid — a monthly stipend for life. Each widow is assigned a case worker, completes a hardship review and personal interview, and is supported for as long as she needs it.

02

COUNSELING & COMMUNITY

Losing a husband means losing stability, too. WAF pairs financial help with counseling and peer groups so no widow walks through it alone.

03

EDUCATION & TRAINING

Workshops that rebuild confidence and income — practical skills for women who want to work, earn and stand on their own again.

HOW NATION’S FIRST FINANCIAL IS INVOLVED

THIS IS PERSONAL FOR OUR TEAM

We see the near-misses in our own office every week — the couple who got a plan in place just in time. The Widow’s Annuity Foundation exists for the women who didn’t get a near-miss. Our team stands behind WAF and raises funds for it throughout the year, and clients and friends of the firm are always welcome to join us at a WAF event or give directly.

REFER SOMEONE

KNOW A WIDOW WHO NEEDS HELP?

If someone in your life is struggling after losing her husband, WAF wants to hear from her. Referrals are confidential.
